These Tomahawk steaks are nice size and money well spent. They were a present sent to my son in the military and he was so excited to see them in his bag.
Steak weighed 1.2 pounds which isn’t close to the 2 pound approximate weight as description stated. Would have been ok with anything 1.7 pounds and up.
The picture of the steak is a premium cut. (Has all 3 muscles from the better end.) This was a middle cut.
The steak’s cap had a slash in it and was vacuum sealed so the cap (Spinellis) was folded over the rest of it. The whole thing wanted to fall apart before it was cooked. This steak wasn’t worth the money unlike some of the other reviews. I feel like a 3* rating is very generous.
Reached out to ask if this was the quality they strive for and got not response before putting this up.
Right, let’s get one thing straight. This is clearly a beautifully marbled cut of meat—absolutely stunning. My family and I devoured it, no question about that. I used my pellet grill, cranked it up to 450°F, and brought it to a perfect medium-rare. Now, was it worth $149.99? Look, on occasion, sure—it’s a treat. But I’ll be honest, the other cuts were just as fantastic. It all comes down to the prep, the cooking time, and, of course, how you slice it. I’ve got a subscription with Four 6’s, and let me tell you, I’m not cancelling that. Will I buy from HCC again? Definitely.
Steaks are advertised at about 2 pounds. I got one at 1.2.
Picture shows a premium cut from the front (small side) of the ribeye. One was cut from closer to the end.
Advertised at 2” thick. One was 1-3/8” thick.
I understand description is approximate but for the cost of these tomahawks, you’d think they could be a little more accurate and add “may vary .8 pounds and vary from 1.25 - 2in” not just over sell and under deliver.
The marbling was exceptional and the tenderness was incredible! Highly recommend always looking to support Texas companies!
